San Antonio
Roadtrip! Our alarms went off early this morning, and we were almost tempted to get back into bed. But instead we got ready and drove a bit under 3 hours to San Antonio! Though there is tons to do in SA, we had two goals.
The Alamo was our first stop. The grounds of the Alamo itself are beautiful, with pathways lined by trees, flowers, and cacti! We even had the chance to hear Stephen F. Austin talk about his role in the colonization of Texas!
After the Alamo, the River Walk , or Paseo del Rio, was next. The River Walk has become the centerpiece of San Antonio, lined with beautiful hotels and restaurants galore. There are also shops and musicians along the way. We had lunch at Rio Rio Cantina and enjoyed walking. There is a path that winds along most of the river, along with fountains and lots of shade to keep us cool.
We enjoyed the downtown area since we found parking to be easy and everything within easy walking distance. Any type of restaurant imaginable is nearby and the culture is unique. Walking along the river makes you feel like you are in a different time. It's a cool place!

Was that one of the 1000 things to see?
Is there anything in your book for Chiang Mai, Thailand?
The River Walk was one of the 1000, but not the Alamo. You'd think it'd be the other way around.
For Chiang Mai: The Hill Tribes of Northern Thailand and The Four Seasons Resort. Been to either? I need to ask Marty, too, since that's where he goes during Feb break. Even if you don't stay at the Four Seasons, just go in the lobby and you can count that, I think!
OK...technically you can't really "been to" the Hill Tribes, since they are a people, but you mean what I know, right?
No I haven't. I'll have to check them out. What about South Carolina?
For our dear Palmetto State:
Beaufort and the Low Country
The Heart of Charleston
Low Country Cuisine (Magnolias, Bowen's Island specifically)
Spoleto Festival (Charleston for 17 days after Memorial Day)
How many of those can you cross off?
I think you may have been to all in NC. There's 3. But...I gotta go. I'll list them when I get back!
For North Carolina:
1. The Biltmore
2. Great Smoky Mountain Nat'l Park
3. The Outer Banks (specifically Duck)
Can you cross out all three?
We can only do 1, really...sadly.
Ok yes! I have been to all 3- although actually I've been to the Great Smoky Mountain Staet Park in Tenn not in NC. I've prob been in NC too but I remember going in TN.
TN counts, since the icon is the park and you went to the park; I say it doesn't matter which border you were on. Wow!--You can knock out a whole state! We haven't been able to do that...yet. Maybe one day!
