Brett graduates from law school!

Graduation is here! What an exciting few days we had! Besides it being graduation and both our parents coming, it was also my parents' 39th wedding anniversary and Mother's Day on Sunday, so we had lots to celebrate!

The hooding ceremony took place on Sunday afternoon, giving us the opportunity to go to church beforehand. Only the law school participates in it's specific hooding, and I thought that this was the most personal part of the graduation. At one point, the dean asked any spouses of the law graduates to stand; I did so proudly!

Monday morning was the actual graduation. It was amazingly cold that morning and people waiting for the ceremony to begin continued to buy blankets at the bookstore to keep warm! The entire graduating class of 2006 participates in the commencement, including undergraduates, M.D.s, J.D.s, and other graduate programs. After Mark Warner finished his speech, the schools broke down into smaller groups. The Law and MBA graduates moved to Wait Chapel to receive their diplomas!

It was a very special weekend, and I was incredibly proud to be the wife of someone who has worked so hard and accomplished so much!

Pura Vida-what is it?

Pura Vida. Pure Life. Costa Ricans will often give this in reply to the question "How are you?", but it is more than that. It's a way of life. They are happy people, proud of who they are, what they have, and where they come from. It's a way of inviting you to follow in their own way of life.

So we say to you "Pura Vida". Come join us as we take on yet another day!
